Panduit named a Major Player in IDC MarketScape: Asia Pacific Datacenter Infrastructure Management Solution 2014 Vendor Assessment

November 7, 2014, TINLEY PARK, IL

Panduit Corp., provider of one of the broadest portfolios of Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) Solutions that bring together DCIM software, intelligent appliances, gateways, and services, has recently been named a Major Player in the IDC MarketScape: Asia Pacific (excluding Japan) Datacenter Infrastructure Management Solution 2014 Vendor Assessment (Doc # AP250842 , October 2014).

This IDC study uses the IDC MarketScape methodology to provide an assessment of 10 vendors participating in the datacenter infrastructure management (DCIM) market. The IDC MarketScape is a vendor assessment tool designed to compare vendors' current capabilities and strategies relative to one another and to the factors that IDC believes will be most conducive to success in the DCIM market. This evaluation is based on a comprehensive framework and set of parameters that assess vendors relative to one another and to those factors that will contribute to success in the DCIM market in the short and long term.

"DCIM solutions can help organizations manage the growing complexity within their datacenters and cope with the increasing pressure to be more agile in provisioning IT," Ambica Pruthi, senior market analyst, Enterprise Infrastructure Team, IDC Asia/Pacific."

The IDC MarketScape has thoroughly and impartially assessed data center infrastructure management (DCIM) vendors on a number of qualitative criteria including product capabilities and plans for future development. The comprehensive investigation takes into account product relevance and effectiveness, and strategic capabilities such as advanced analytics as well as asset tracking and energy monitoring strengths.

In evaluating DCIM solutions, IDC notes Panduit’s strengths as a global provider of hardware, software solutions and services for data centers, enterprise and industrial environments. According to IDC, “they have a very large ecosystem of partners to support their operations across the globe and in APeJ region.”

According to IDC, “Panduit is putting together the building blocks for a DCIM solution which will enable them to have more meaningful conversations with both IT and facilities teams and in turn get easy buy–in for investments from C-level executives. Panduit has shown particular strength in providing solutions for smaller datacenters and have modularized the offering to ensure their customers can get started with smaller investments and scale up slowly. This transformation will take place as the customers throughout the region mature in managing their processes and move towards higher level of automation.”

“The true value of DCIM is found by understanding every vital aspect of the data center and extended enterprise,” said Harry Woo, Panduit Senior Vice President of Asia Pacific. “The MarketScape report has recognized Panduit’s ability to provide this insight with DCIM Solutions, a comprehensive, holistic toolset that promotes optimal data center management and real cost savings.”

As a progression of its strengths in network solutions to organize infrastructure and solve business problems, Panduit organically developed its physical infrastructure management (PIM) DCIM software solution. Panduit acquired UK-based energy management provider Unite Technologies in 2012 followed by US- based wireless monitoring and cooling optimization company SynapSense in early 2014 with the aim of enhancing their DCIM capabilities and making it more competitive.

Panduit DCIM solutions deliver extensive power and energy management, and thermal and cooling management capabilities along with comprehensive asset tracking. Using Panduit’s unique and innovative ‘Zone methodology’, this solution set provides a thorough, systematic approach for businesses needing to address any and all aspects of data center and enterprise management to achieve highly efficient, optimal operations.
